David Long

Operations Director

David Long has spent over 35 years within the lift industry. During his apprenticeship he gained his City & Guilds and HNC in Electrical Engineering, as well as BTEC qualifications in Lift Technology and Commercial Contracting.

He moved into middle management with Schindler in 1988 and held various positions in the fields of maintenance and modernisation. His role developed to Operations Manager, responsible for the business in Scotland and Northern Ireland. During this period he studied for an MBA at Glasgow Caledonian University and Graduated in 2004.

He joined ThyssenKrupp Elevator in 2006 as Branch Manager in Glasgow and progressed to Regional Manager in Scotland, during which time he chaired the Employee’s Safety Committee.

Throughout his career he has worked with a large scope of clients including Marks & Spencer, British Energy, UKAEA, University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow, Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association and Viewpoint Housing Association.

David joined MovvéO (formerly Lerch Bates) in 2008 and is Regional Director for Scotland. He has been engaged in projects with DTZ, Ryden, Page\Park Architects, Primark, BTW Shiells, Tesco, Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association and Viewpoint Housing Association.

  • Competent in producing performance based specification documents for new lift equipment in both new and existing buildings, and in tendering and evaluation of tenders
  • Competent in undertaking detailed surveys of existing lift systems and producing modernisation performance based specification documents for existing buildings, and in tendering and evaluation of tenders

Acceptance Inspection

  • Competent in carrying out inspection & snagging of new VT equipment

Fault Finding
