With more than 30 years’ experience in the suspended access industry, Ray has worked on many of London’s most prestigious buildings including The Gherkin, The Shard and The Walbrook Building. He has held the position of Managing Director for three of the UK’s leading façade access companies and is well known throughout the industry for his extensive knowledge of suspended access equipment and working at heights safety regulations.
Ray began his career in 1979 as a mechanical fitter working for Cradle Runways International. He remained there for 18 years, during which time he held various roles before finally being promoted to maintenance sales contract manager, a role he held for several years. Having earned his stripes on the ground so to speak, Ray quickly gained a reputation as a sales manager with the industry knowledge to be able to offer clients practical advice. During his time at Cradle Runways, Ray also developed an interest in improving industry standards, particularly in the fields of Health & Safety and CDM.
Ray left Cradle Runways International in 1997 to take up the position of Sales Director at Introland Ltd, before being promoted to Managing Director two years later. In 2003 Ray decided to set up his own company – Guardian Cradle Maintenance Ltd. In 2008 Guardian became part of the StreetCraneXpress Group and Ray continued as Guardian’s Managing Director, assisting the SCX team to complete the installation of BMU equipment on numerous high rise projects throughout the UK. During Ray’s time as a Director at SCX the company also completed the installation of the retractable roof system for the Wimbledon Centre Court. Ray joined MovvéO (formerly Lerch Bates) in 2015 to head up the Façade Access Team.
